Everyone loves music. Everyone has his favorite genres, artists or singles. But now I want to talk about the industry. We all hear in the radio and read in the news papers that the download of music from the internet is not good for the artists, and we have to buy their CD’s…
You know what? I think this is crap. All these “problems”, talking about the fact that we don’t buy CD’s anymore and that the artists will not make music anymore are some big lies. And probably these are the lies of those who make the CD’s and those who still have CD Players to sell. And yeah, I’m sure the CD Stores gave their help for these lies too.
Let’s face it: from ringtones, radios, concerts, payed music downloads and much more benefits that the internet give them, these artists are probably making more money than ever. Only those will fail, who will never understand the new changes.
Madonna understood and already signed a contract with the promoting company Live Nation and there will be more who will do this. Some of the artists already have tv channels on youtube. Some of them already have a myspace account. And probably most of the artists are downloading their favorite music from the internet too.
Later edit: By “download” I’ve been talking about legal and paid music.

I think you should get spam protection… (the tree comments above me) Check out the site section of my site, I have a list of plugins there for wordpress, including the spam protection I use
About downloading music, I wrote a blog about it a few days ago as well, I don’t know if you read it, but my opinion is, that ofcourse it’s illegal, but like you said, the music industry has to realise there is nothing they can do about it, and has to find a way to live with it. And in the end, I think artists benefit from free downloading, more people get a chance to listen to music they never would have bought, and might find something they like.

@Lisa, those are not spams, I allow pings for other blogs. So if someone wants to put a part of my article on their blog and they give the source, it will look in my blog as a comment.
I have Akismet spam protection and it is probably the best one

The music industry is still going to make money no matter what.

I agree with you completely. Musicians are making a lot of money and the fact that people are not buying as many CDs could be due to that fact that no one wants to pay so much for a CD with maybe three good songs. I would rather download the three songs. Plus artists make money on more then just CDs.

The music industry will always make enogh money no matter what. Everything a song is played on the radio or any other public place they get paid. Music will always be a big part of our life.

I agree, there are lots more ways for musicians to make money from their work then ever before. But it is harder for an average band to make a go of it, because there is just so much content out there already that is free.

I think we should talk more about luck. Because if you are good and you know how to promote yourself on the internet, you can become famous and make money, even if you are new in this business.
