Last blog I said:

I’ve started to take chances and to do my best to fulfill these chances. Because I always risked, but most of the time I gave up without a fight.

Maybe some of you will think that I’ve acted childish by giving up, because I’m almost 21 and I should know what to do by taking chances, but I didn’t. Lets face it, I live in an ex-communist country with one of the highest rates of corruption from the European Union. The education here is outdated(so most of the psychologists don’t really know how to treat you). Lots of people try to change it, but there are also lots of interests by not changing the educational part(and these interests will always win). Some people promised that since 1989(when communism theoretical died in Romania) we will live in heaven. But most of the people still live from a day to another, without knowing if tomorrow they will have enough food to their children or if they will have enough money to buy medicine if they get sick. Of course, it’s easy to show cities like Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca as examples of how good and great this country is, but why don’t they show Caracal and the surroundings as a beautiful, good and great city? Because that trashy city shows the real face of Romania.

You cannot change the mentality, and the 3 million depressed people(from 22 million), because nobody believes in nothing and nobody gives a f**k anymore in whatever you will tell them. The mentality is still a communist one and most of us just want to go the hell out of here. Last year were too many suicides. This year law prohibited the televisions to show depressing news.

And yes, probably the best thing that ever happened is that the country was accepted in the European Union and it is kind of forced to become a better country. But I have my doubts like everyone else. Because we live here, we had a few experiences and we know who they are. “Communists still live and still lead the country”- this is what everyone says.

Why am I writing this? Because I have the right to speak my mind and my personal(not just mine, trust me, most of the people think in the same way) view about whatever I want. Theoretically, I live in a democratic country.

And still:

I never had enough desire to win by destroying all my limits and flying away, without knowing where will this flight stop. But now I fight and try to fly as much as possible.

It is definitely a hard thing for a ex-communist community to change their ways or thinking around. But that why they would need a great leader, someone who can step up and help them…
I do hope for the best for you!

Wow, that was a great entry. I don’t know what else to say about it…

  3. Aisyah Says:

oh, I never knew that being an ex-communist country have such great impact. And some people just give up, it’s not childish. I think, some people sometimes make the wrong decision. we all make mistakes, don’t we? :)

  4. Tashia Says:

Wow I learned a lot from that blog. I never knew it was like that there, i guess because like you said everyone shows the good cities not the ones in need of help. I would not say not taking chances in childish you are just being cautious. I wish I could be more like that sometimes.

I can’t imagine living in a communist or former communist country. I believe it must take years and years for positive growth and change to establish itself. If it makes you feel any different, not all countries (even democratic) countries are really even better. America is so corrupted that a vote doesn’t mean squat. Freedom of speech is a joke - for most phones are tapped now because of our president. It’s ridiculous (in our own extent).

  6. Frutee Says:

Giving up is not childish. It is only an option when it comes to decision making. :)

  7. Brittany Says:

Giving up isn’t childish because so many adults do it too. Now i consider you an adult becuase, well, I’m 15. But I think giving up can sometimes be the right choice. If some things don’t come too easy and your spending all this energy on something you can’t do then why don’t put less energy into something you can.

  8. Monica Says:

@Destiny, not the leader should be great, the people behind him. Because people love Romania’s president, but also there are other people behind him.
@SP, you said enough. Thanks :) @Aisyah, yes we make, and sometimes we just get bored because some people play with our lives.
@Tashia, well, comunism is something from where you can learn a lot. Trust me, all the cities need help, they actually show only the beautiful part of them. But there are a few cities that really don’t have beautiful parts.
@Allison, yeah, I heard a lot of things about America. At least you have an other kind of life. You have no idea how depressing is to see on the streets every day so many unhappy people.
@Frutee, sometimes it is childish. But yeah, most of the time I realize it when it’s too late.
@Brittany, those adults can act like children too. Right? Maybe I want to show myself that I have no limits and that I can do everything if I put an effort. Maybe If I would put less energy in something that I know I can, I wouldn’t be satisfied by the results.
